The National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service released its final report to Congress and ended its mission in September 2020 via www.inspire2serve.gov and social media. The commission, headed by Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Joe Heck, a doctor and former Nevada congressman, was charged with answering two questions: (1) Is the Selective Service System still needed?; And (2) how can the United States of America "create an ethos of service and increase participation in military, national, and public service?
